Promoting your web site -2

How to get more business, year after year.

Free links for therapists with web pages.

Once you have either your own practitioner page or a full web site (doesn't matter which, the principle is the same) – then you need to help generate more visitors. In addition to adding your details to your email messages, on all your brochure and in local advertising, you also need to organize links to your page.

These incoming links work in several ways. Not only do some visitors follow the links to your page, they also influence Google. More incoming links means that Google will move your page higher up the search results when someone searches for a therapist or treatment. This is a KEY PRINCIPLE and means you will get more visitors and more business.

I have listed below a collection of web sites (directories) that offer links to your page or web site. Most are free, all are worth exploring. It takes time but is one of the most important things you can do to help build your business.

Make sure that you use the full web address of your page, if you want to get the maximum benefit. Then visitors will arrive directly at your page, rather than going through the rest of the web site and perhaps reaching your competitors.

This site lists a range of therapies – there are some 70 kinesiology practitioners listed among the 1000 or so therapists. You can and should include the web address of your web page or web site.

http://www.healers.co.uk/
A database driven site that lists therapists. The basic listing is free – simply complete an online form and you're in. There are options of enhanced and premium listings which you can pay for – arguably these may not be worth paying for. However, the basic listing does not allow you to put a link to your web page – that costs an extra £30pa plus VAT.

http://www.remedyindex.com/
A big web with a complex search system, listing lots of therapists. There is an online form. The basic listing is free, but there are several possible upgrades that require payment.

http://www.lifeworkpotential.com/search/login.asp
One of the better sites. If offers a free listing which can include links to your web page.

http://www.bcma.co.uk/
If you are a member of one of an Associated organization – like The Healer Foundation, then you should your basic details listed already. Please check your listing details are correct. You will need to send them details of your web address and ask them to include a link as part of your listing details. The contact details are:office@bcma.co.uk

Another therapy web site a rambling in structure, but it's free for a basic listing.
A basic listing allows you to list under three therapies, if you want. If you want to add a link to your web site, there is a charge of £15.

Chis Uk has been around for a while. You can list for free on here: http://www.chisuk.org.uk/CM/index.php , but you have to register first.

http://www.positivehealth.com/ This site has a good flow of visitors and lists individual therapists, including their web site address.. I tried to find out how to get listed but gave up after 10 minutes. Maybe you can find a way. It's free (I think).

http://www.holisticpages.co.uk/directory/compare.php
Another big web site. The basic listing is free including a link to your web site and a short description. You pay extra include your logo or banner.

http://www.webhealth.co.uk/misc/comparison_table.asp
Yet another listing site for therapists. The basic listing is free, but if you want to include your email address and a link to your page / web site, the cost is £10pa

http://www.psychicdirectory.co.uk/
Slightly different, this web site lists several therapies including reiki therapists and healers. Listing is free and so worth having.

http://www.naturalpages.co.uk/index.php
Finding your way around this site is a bit convoluted, but the listing and link to your web site is free.

http://www.mbspages.co.uk/therapists/
Yet another site that tries to list everything and everybody. It's a jumble to find your way around, but Hey! the listing is free so well worth having.

http://www.shared-care.com/Therapies/Kinesiology/therapytools/TherapistList/GreatBritain?THERAPY_KEY=Kinesiology
This is a newish international web site listing therapies and a lot more. Listing is free – you enter details online. It covers kinesiology and several other therapies. If you have a practitioner page or a full web site, it is worth applying. The link above is for kinesiology. For other therapies, just search for the appropriate page.

There are other lists of therapists, but most require you to join an organization in order to appear on their web site. Perhaps the best value among these is The Healer Foundation – a network of 140 therapists covering a wide range of therapies. It is worth exploring their web site: http://www.healerfound.co.uk/
There is a modest membership charge, but the range of benefits (discounted insurance cover, for example) make it good value.

More links = more visitors = more business

A couple of hours spent on this task will bring you benefits for years. Plan your week so that you set aside a couple of hours on the computer to apply for all the above sites. It could be one of the best investments you make this year.

Remember, this activity is worthwhile not just for the people who follow the link - more links mean a better Google PageRank - which means your site wcomes higher up the search results.
